1. QuickBooks installation was incomplete  

2. A company file (.qbw) has been damaged  

3. The folder where company file was located has been damaged  

4. Hosting of QuickBooks has been enabled on both servers instead of just one  

5. The server doesn’t have the correct permissions to access company files  

6. The user who is trying to access the company files doesn’t have the correct permissions  

7. Service QBDataServiceUserXX where XX is the version number of QuickBooks is trying to access company files but it doesn’t have the correct permissions  

8. A security software on the server is blocking access to the company file.  

The solution to this error depends on what the user was doing when this error was thrown. Here are some of the cases when the error could have occurred.

Solutions

#) The user was trying to open a file which is stored on a Windows Server

There are a number of solutions that you can try in case you were trying to open a company file on a Windows Server-

1. Download QuickBooks File Doctor and try to resolve the error through it  

2. In case QuickBooks was installed on more than one system, try configuring one to store the company file  

3. Edit the host file with the name of Windows server and IP address on the system where company file was stored

#) The user was trying to open a company file which is located on a Linux Server:

1. Configure Linux Database Server manager, specify the directory Initord.conf and then restart the system. Now ping the server by going to command prompt.  

 

2. A user was creating a backup when this error occurred: Create a manual backup and store it in a new folder under C drive.

3. A user was trying to restore a company file: If your file extension is .qbw.adr or .qbm, change it to .qbw. If that doesn’t work check for nay problems with the file path or the file name.</li>

QuickBooks error 6000 -80

This error is also thrown when a user is trying to access a company file from the server. There can be various reasons behind this error, including:

1. A Company file might have got corrupted  

2. Some of the data from the company file has been converted over the network  

3. More than one computers are acting as a host right at the same time  

4. No connection with the server  

5. There are a number of solutions that can be used to resolve this problem-

6. Update your system and server with the latest version

8. Copy the company file or the backup file to your local drive and then restore the company file and update it

Here are some of the possible causes of error 6000 -77

1. Instead of a network or local drive, the company file is located on an external storage  

2. Incorrect folder permissions of the folder which has the company file inside it  

3. The company file is being opened by QuickBooks by referencing a mapped drive  

If you are facing this error, the first thing to do is restart QuickBooks with increased permission. In most of the cases, the error is resolved after restarting and there are not any further steps needed.

2.) If the company file was stored on an external storage or media then move it to the local or the network drive and then try to open it in QuickBooks

3.) If the company file was referencing a mapped drive, then you need to change the settings and select the correct server. To do this, go over to the file menu and click on “Open or Restore Company”. Now select “Open a Company File” and click on “Network Places”. Click on “Entire Network” and select the server where your company file has been stored. Restart QuickBooks to see if the problem has been resolved
